Real Life Wedding - Rose and Tom

Real Wedding at Hensol Castle:
Rose and Tom
At Hensol Castle, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting countless dream weddings - but Rose and Tom’s big day was extra special. Not only did they celebrate their love in the beautiful surroundings of our historic Welsh wedding venue, but the couple have deep ties to the castle itself. Rose is Hensol Castle’s very own Marketing Executive, and Tom previously worked as Sales Manager at Hensol Castle Distillery. So, when it came to choosing their perfect wedding venue in South Wales, there really was only one place that felt like home.
A Summer Wedding Full of Personality and Fun
Rose and Tom wanted their summer wedding at Hensol Castle to reflect who they are: vibrant, fun-loving, and all about creating lasting memories with friends and family. Drawing inspiration from the warm, sunny vibes of an Aperol Spritz, their theme was bright, bubbly, and brimming with energy.
“Having worked as a wedding coordinator at Hensol Castle for years, I’ve seen so many stunning weddings,” Rose shared. “But for our own day, we wanted something that truly felt like us - lots of laughter, fun, and a real party atmosphere.”
The Colour Palette: Aperol Spritz Meets Disco
The couple embraced bold, summer hues, leaning into a palette of vibrant oranges and pinks. These colours perfectly captured their Aperol-inspired wedding theme while adding a playful, summery twist to the castle’s elegant backdrop.
From the wedding flowers to the bridesmaid dresses, every detail reflected this joyful aesthetic. The result? A day that was bright, bold, and bursting with love.
A Ceremony with Heart
The couple’s wedding ceremony was held in a local church, where the Llantrisant Male Voice Choir performed. This was particularly emotional for Rose, as her late grandfather had once sung with them. Their rendition of Taylor Swift’s Love Story—learned just for the day—created an unforgettable aisle moment.
Aperol Spritz Welcome Drinks
Naturally, guests were greeted with Aperol Spritz cocktails at the drinks reception, setting the tone for a lively summer celebration in the castle's grounds.
Wedding Favours from Hensol Castle Distillery
In a nod to Tom’s time as Sales Manager at Hensol Castle Distillery, guests received mini bottles of Hensol Castle gin as wedding favours - a personal and local touch that everyone loved.
First Dance with a Twist
Rose and Tom wanted to kept the energy on the dancefloor going all night. Starting romantically with Arctic Monkeys’ cover of Baby I’m Yours and then switched it up by diving straight into I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor - exactly the kind of fun-filled moment they had envisioned.
Cocktail Surprise from the Best Men
One of the most personal moments came courtesy of the best men, who served up a mini version of Rose’s favourite cocktail from back when Tom was a barman at Bar 44—an unexpected and touching tribute to the couple’s early days.
A Wedding to Remember at Hensol Castle
For Rose and Tom, Hensol Castle wasn’t just a venue - it was part of their story. From the stunning lake and historic architecture to the exclusive-use wedding spaces, the castle provided the perfect backdrop for their vibrant celebration.
